“My life is my message.”
– Mahatma Ghandi

I continue to fly. I continue to fly, because I am backed with very grounded principles. This may sound counterintuitive or not make logical sense.
How can you fly and be grounded at the same time?

But the reason I can fly now, is because I am continually developing and applying sound and tangiable work and physical effort that allows me to reach this place of “flying.”

What Flying Means To Me
To me flying means that I am in the flow of things. I am doing what I feel I should be doing at the moment that I should be doing it. I am being rewarded financially and in my personal life. Flying to me means my creativity is unlimited and my dreams are coming true in the real world.

When I am flying, I am feeling creative, highly imaginative, and I can write about what I feel is real and honest to me, because I know that they are things I do that work effectively for me. Flying to me is the feeling of bliss and inner peace. This inner peace may come out in the form of laughter with others or may come in moments of pure silence of pure present moment awareness with others. Flying to me is a state of consiousness.

Grounded By Work Ethic

One of the reasons I can fly freely, is because I take one step at a time with my endevours. Although I have very ambitious and high goals for myself for the future, I know that practical action steps in the present moment, is the route that will allow me to get to where I want to go. It sounds like a contradiction to be grounded and fly at the same time. But I really just think it’s just being balanced.

Being Balanced

Can you achieve balance in your own life by acknowledging the need for both the need to fly and being grounded? Granted some people excell more in either being very grounded and are good at taking action. And others are better up in the air creating from that space.

I personally know people, who are very grounded and work very hard at staying at ground level. There is nothing wrong with this. Putting in the work in the real world and getting tangiable results from your physical labor is great. But, if they eliminate their imagination and creative aspects, they miss the magic of life. There is more to life than just what we can touch with our hands and see with our physical eyes.

Also I know people who are “pie in the sky” very creative and imaginative, but never really physically get anything “accomplished.” They run around with great creative ideas, but never take tangiable action to see their ideas become tangiable. This is where the term “struggling artist” comes from. They have all these great ideas, but never monetize on it. So even at that you need to stay grounded, get the work done, and get your great ideas and put them down to the phsyical world and see real resutls, that you can physically see and touch with your hands.

Beng grounded by taking daily action steps on my daily goals, and feeding my creative, imaginative artist is a beautiful balance that I have now come to realize in my life at this moment. Maintaing this balance is how I intend to take my dreams down into the world, and continue to fly. Come fly with me.

Your Own Balance

Are you seeing in your life the need to fly more (develop more creativity, imagination), or to be more grounded (taking more physical action steps) ?

Finding this balance is beneficial to your own personal growth. As you work through this process, you become more self aware, and this self awareness brings you an inner peace and clarity. As you find this balance in your life, you will see how it is possible to fly and be grounded at the same time. It’s an honest and real feeling that only a select few ever really reach. But, if you are reading this post, you are more than likely in that small percentage of people. :) This would be the ideal, to do what you love and be where you want and have more than enough money to do as you please.

Responsibility

This balance between flying and being grounded, is something that brings positive results in your life, but also comes with a great deal of responsibility. This responsibility is in teaching others around you that can benefit from this as well. The resaon it now becomes your responsibility to teach others this, is because they will see the good that comes from your experience and want to have the very same thing in their life. So keep in mind, that as you find this balance, you will also need to show others the way as well.

Depending on your natural personality, you can decipher for yourself, what you need to do, to balance both these energies. However, there is a technique I use that daily, that helps me with this process of balancing myself…

Meditation

I have found that the daily practice of meditation for me, has allowed me to find this nice balance. There is an abundance of “how to meditate articles and techniques” that you can Google for free, that may help you balance out your energies in an effective manner. This balance of being grounded and flying is an amazing, and truly fuffiling positive experience for me at this current stage in my life.

    Hey Baker,

I like how you point out that it’s possible to both fly and be grounded. I personally find myself more in the flying state of being. I’ll have grandiose plans but spend too much time dreaming about them. Like you mentioned, meditation has also helped me greatly in realizing this and take definite steps towards balancing my flying and staying grounded.

    Take care,
    Ben

I think your definition of flying closely relations to me definition of feeling great. It’s this amazing feeling where anything you create is a masterpiece. You are in a state of mind where your creativity, imagination, and ideas get better and better. Living in this state requires a conscious effort.

    Hi Baker,

Thank you for the reminder. I’ve been accused of being too grounded and not balancing things out with ‘flying’ and creating. I can get lost in my ‘to do’ list and even feel accomplished checking things off. However, I know balance is vital to excelling in all areas of our lives.

    See you soon.

    Hey Ben!
Yeah this balance is something I’ve been developing for some time now, and it’s amazing to see the need for both instead of trying to resist one of the parts. I am glad you found value here.

Nice post Baker. I can relate to your article on flying when things just start to flow. But like you say, we have to stay grounded as well. I see the grounded part as staying disciplined in our work ethic and taking it one step at a time. When we get good enough at a steady pace, then things will feel as if they are starting to flow. Thanks for sharing this, and thank you for the big font!

    Hulbert,
Hey Glad you like the big font! I am working towards putting more of my personal experience on this blog page. It is interesting the more I interact with bloggers like yourself, the more I learn about myself and it’s a fascinating process, reading where other people are coming from and all the great perspectives of other people.

  9. Baker, I liked this very much, because it resonates with what I have also learned about being grounded, yet at the same time being able to fly. Thank you for sharing your insights.

A little while ago I, too, wrote about being able to fly in the world because of the uniqueness of who we are – I was inspired by a wild bird that fell down from the sky in my mountain garden. I held it in my hands for awhile, reviving it with loving energy, until it could fly off again.
