The Wants of Others V.S YOUR Soul’s Desire
What happens when what everyone in your outside world wants something completely opposite of your soul’s desire?
Do you rebel against everyone else, and stay true to your soul’s desire. Or do you simply allow others to decide for you what it is they want from you?
This is a major conflict that many people are currently facing. Understand that as I write this blog entry, I am going up against some challenges between that of what someone else probably wants from me versus listening to my soul’s desire.
My soul’s desire is to give in the form of these blogs my creative self expression, without any limits and without doubt or hesitation. This may seem like a very small soul desire to most people, but at this stage in my development this simple act of writing and expressing my inner creativity is something I am truly developing a passion for and brings me joy.
The platform that I currently choose to creatively express myself may change in the future, who knows? But all I know now at this moment in time blogging brings me a sense of joy in the present moment and I trust in this joy to continue on with this.
The best part is that the more I stay in alignment with just putting out the intention to the universe of wanting to write more, the more the universe continues to send me opportunites to continue to simply write more.
Earlier this week, I recieved word from an online freelance writing company to do some work with them to write on topics that I am passionate about such as personal development and self help. The universe always hears our intentions. ![]()
I understand what I may be doing here on this blog, may not make everyone happy. But it does make a select few feel reassured and happy.
The reason? It is because I stopped trying to match my soul’s desires with that of what everyone else probably wants from me. The moment I began doing this, a new world opened up for me. I can finally write about stuff that I actually go through in real life without much fear of being judged. The moment I began to do what I felt my soul desired, was the moment I can finally share with others ideas and things that can really help them.
I can open up new ideas and spark creativity in other minds by simply being in a state of flow with my writing. This flow is a very honest place for me, and I hope that it allows others that feeling that it is okay to dig deep within to get this flow going in their own lives in however they choose for themselves to express it.
I can now be myself in a room filled with people trying to meet and adhere to the status quo. I am now in tune enough within my own internal space, that regardless of what everyone else in a single setting may be worried about I can tune into their heart and see for them that there is nothing to really be worried about.
I just continue to listen to my soul’s desire and it continues to bring me to honest places in my physical existence that probably would not have come if I continued to try to please everyone else around me, that probably don’t see my vision for the future anyway.
Vision is very important. The reason having vision is important is because so many times especially when we are in the search of finding ourselves, we get caught up in so many different situations that can challenge us. Imagine being in a state of mind where you are just trying to figure everything out for yourself, in the very beginning stages of self discovery and being presented an influx of outside circumstances that come in the form of “other people” that go exactly opposite of what your soul’s desire is leading you towards.
Is there any wonder why many people end up feeling lost and confused in this society? There is just too many opposing views going against an individual’s soul desire at the exact moment that person is still trying to figure all these things out.
When I began to take hold of this knowing, I began to see things differently. I started to just have more compassion for humanity. It always leads back to compassion and love for people. You have to see that even in the midst of not knowing what it is you want in life, there is still a love that you have for people that challenge you’re not knowingness, because at the end of the day these people just want to share with them with you their story. Hell, everyone has their own story, their own struggle, their own pain and challenges. People want to spread this to you at the time that you are trying to figure yourself out because they want you to be safe and secure. They don’t want you to fall into the same traps they fell into. So look at these people, with love and compassion.
Love them for challenging your soul’s desire, for it strengthens your own inner self. And develop compassion for their story as we are all here facing similar challenges in different forms. You see the moment I began to see that we are all here facing very similar challenges only in different forms, I just began to develop more of an awareness and compassion for people, because even though our egos try to make it seem like we are separate from each other, we are all one.
So after you develop this love and compassion for everyone that may oppose your soul’s desire, continue to look within you for the answers and follow through with relentless ambition towards your souls desires before giving in to what everyone else wants from you.
Hey, maybe you are the lucky few that have a soul desire that matches up with what everyone else wants from you.
I certainly was not; I had to really push myself on a mental and emotional level to be able to simply be writing on this blog. As simple as that sounds, it was really a spiritual breakthrough that I had to overcome to get to this point to write freely and share with you all this information. So, it does take effort both ways really. There are two options that begin to emerge.
Option 1. Listening To What Everyone Else Wants
Option 2. Listening To Your Soul’s Desire
Option 1: Listening To What Everyone Else Wants
The first option is to listen to what everyone else wants. Let’s assume in this scenario that what everyone else wants from you goes completely against your soul’s desire. If you are to do what everyone else wants and it isn’t true for your soul’s desire it becomes double challenging because first, your soul won’t feel fulfilled. Second, there is a risk of later down the line being filled with feelings of regret for not listening to your soul’s desire earlier. So not listening to your soul’s desire there will be a lack of fulfillment in what you do, and also the regret later down the road.
Option 2: Listening To Your Soul’s Desire
At the same time, listening and following your soul’s desire is no walk in the park either, you will be challenged by people that don’t fully grasp or understand your visions. There is a chance that people may hurt your feelings because they don’t fully grasp your ideas. Maybe your ideas are too ahead of its time. You may be ridiculed and laughed at and be heavily misunderstood by people. You also run the risk of feeling much defeat and failure. But at the very least with this second option you can have a peace of mind knowing you are being guided by your spirit and there won’t be any regrets because your choices come from a place of honesty…You soul.
Listening To Your Soul’s Desire
Listening to your soul is at its very least very freeing and honest. It at least give your mind some kind of peace, because it your soul is a place of love. When we begin to operate from this place of love we see things differently. We won’t be so offended by others from this place. If others may misunderstand our intentions or laugh and ridicule us for being “different” from this place of love, it won’t really throw us off. Rather we will continue on this path of love, because it feels right and the approval of others is so small compared to the big and exciting plans that our soul is guiding us towards. Love does not fear. So if we are listening to our soul we are listening to love and from that place we can choose wisely, making choices from a real place of fearlessness.
Your soul’s desire is fearless, because your soul’s desire is love.

With Understanding,

That’s a great question Baker. One of my quotes sums your situation up:
“When listening to your soul life goes on cruise control.”
You may run into some resistance but eventually it will begin to fade as you attract more like-minded people and lose the ones who are not in harmony with your passion and purpose.
You will never, ever go wrong listening to your soul; when it looks like nothing is working, Everything is working. The universe rewards those who honor its calling. Me finding your blog is a perfect example. Although I focus on my cash gifting activities, recently I had a strong inner pull – call it intuition, or the soul talking to me – to visit more inspirational blogs. Yours is one of the first ones that I came across. I attracted an inspirational person who I share a great deal in common with by listening to the small, still voice which is often drowned out by the ego’s chatter.
Ryan´s last blog ..Don’t Share Your Money Problems with Me, I Don’t Want Them
Hey Ryan,
I agree you never do go wrong with listening to your soul. I think the problem comes in because many people are so focused on what the ego wants first and foremost, so they run around trying to find answers to questions when the answers are right in front of them. I am glad that you found my site, and you find it to be inspirational. I actually feel that we have a lot in common as well when it comes to ideas about the law of attraction and vibrational energy manifesting thing and experiences to us that are benefical.
Baker, hello again. It seems my comment earlier today did not make it through, so I will start over.
Thank you for this beautifully expressed, inspiring post filled with compassionate wisdom. The timing is perfect for me – I am emerging from a personal trauma here in Japan that made me lose even my smile. It feels so good to receive the conviction of your words and the warmth of your encouragement.
Sometimes we do not listen to our soul because our soul speaks to us in whispers we can easily miss. To become alert to our inner voice we often need to create the quiet space that allows the communication to come through. It does come through, and as it reaches us, it can pull us through any fears we might have as we begin to listen to and follow its voice.
Please stop by and share your soul’s S-M-I-L-E on my latest blog post from Japan – I am grateful to be smiling and sharing again – Catrien Ross.

Hello Catrien,
Thanks for the feedback. I understand sometimes we just go through those periods where it seems really confusing and out of whack, that’t one of ther reasons I write so much about topics like these, I guess because I’ve seen a lot in my young years.
Take care peace and light.
Hi Baker, absolutely. Looking within and listening to your soul will always guide you. I also agree with your other point that we are all connected. This kind of thinking, for me, is what will heal the world. I’m hopeful that more of us will think this way. Thank you for your positivity.
Belinda,
Nice to see you on here! Yes, the listening to the inner voice seems to be the key to getting it “right” if there is a “right” anyway. I’m glad you can realate to this long winded post of mine.
We need to discover our own path in life and we can’t do that by following another’s.

Hi Baker,
You are wise not to let anyone discourage you from continuing your work here or pursuing an opportunity that speaks to you. It can be difficult letting go of what we’re familiar with — familiarity is our ‘comfort zone.’ But, how comfortable can it be to remain where you no longer have nurturing support? I appreciate your unique voice — continue to let your Light shine

Thanks Kim for your thoughts on my post. It is much appreciated.
Beautiful post!!! Like I mentioned to you on your facebook wallpost. I am so INCREDIBLY excited for you. You deserve it so very much. I loved this post when you said, “I just continue to listen to my soul’s desire and it continues to bring me to honest places in my physical existence that probably would not have come if I continued to try to please everyone else around me, that probably don’t see my vision for the future anyway.”

It is so awesome when you live your own truth and your soul’s desire. Like I read before in a book, “”God hired us to be ourselves” so powerful and true and we CLAIM that truth in our life and follow our bliss the universe responds with open arms. This is just the beginning and the best part, I get to see this all blossom in front of me.
I have enjoyed all your posts. Thank You for bringing such a wonderful friend to me. I appreciate you VERY VERY MUCH!
Much Love

Baker — I love your site:~) I really like the colors and the shapes.
I liked this post. It is very important to follow your soul’s desire. I think that sometimes doing this is like a house of mirrors. There are many that distort who we are and it’s up to us, as you well said, to find the real soul inside us and then nurture this soul.
I get the impression, you’ve been in the house of mirrors, but now you’ve found your true reflections. Good for you:~)

It sounds like you unleashed your dragon and you’re ready to take it for a ride.
I find that I’m at my best when I’m on my path and following my inner-warrior. I find it’s also the unbeaten path or the path not paved … but as long as I’m following my values and playing to my strengths, I’m living my process.
