Hello all.
I’d like to apologize for the frequent change and look of my blog. I am going to stick with this new blog layout for a longer time. :) I just wanted the look of the blog to be wider and bigger. This feels better for me. Thank you for your understanding!
——————————————————————————————————-

A question I get a lot, especially from people close to me is.

“Should I do XYZ”? Now, a lot of times this “XYZ” tends to be a major life changing question. Such as, “Should I become a school teacher?” “Should I finish college?”
“Should I date so and so?”

My response is always the same to them. My response is “What do you feel about that?”

I later get the answer, “Well I know what I feel about it, but should I do it?”

Then, I grin and say, “You didn’t answer my question.”

They respond, “Well I feel great about doing “XYZ” because I am very talented in this area, it makes me feel good, I will get paid a good deal of money, and doing by doing this I will be making a difference in people’s lives. ”

From there, I say “Well if you are talented in this area, it makes you feel good, you will make a good deal of money, and it makes a difference in people’s lives, then in my honest opinion I think those are enough positive reasons for you to go ahead to take action and do it!”

The Answers Are Within Each Person

You see, everyone already has all the answers inside each one of them. We all have power beyond what we probably give ourselves credit for.
But, the question you ask yourself isn’t “Should I do it?”, the question is really “WHY do I feel like this is the best possible option for me at the moment? ”
Or simply, “Why Should I do it?”

Listen, I can only give my opinion about certain things based on my knowledge of what I see you are going through and where your talents are, but the truth is I can never tell you what you “should” be doing.

The reason is because I see each person as a lot more powerful way beyond what they give themselves credit for. Each person really can be, do, and have whatever they want in life.

So, when I get this question from people on what I think they “should” be doing, I question their very own understanding of their own power.

I don’t mind giving my opinions all day long, (sometimes to a fault) from what I can feel and see coming up for a person. But I don’t necessarily believe in giving advice based on what I think a person “should be doing.”

Better Questions = Better Answers

I believe that better questions, result in better answers. If you give me your reason for why you think you CAN do something, I can give a better reason why I not only believe you can, but point you in the right direction to make this a reality for you.

When people underestimate their own power from within, there is a lot of confusion that arises for that person. Along with this confusion results in fear, worry, and doubt. This confusion is due to the fact that they aren’t operating from their true space.

You see, when you operate from your true space of knowingness, you are empowered. You realize how much you know you can offer the world at large, you recognize and utilize your talents in a manner that helps, assists, and makes people’s lives richer and fuller. When you underestimate your power, you are easily giving into those circumstances that don’t serve you, and begin down the path of negative thinking and doubt.

Daily Mediation As A Way To Gain Clarity

One of the things I practice daily is meditation. Meditation allows me that calm, clear, and silent space to just honor and respect my own power from within me. As you start to see the benefits of meditation you can come into an understanding of your own power from within. From this place, you feel clearer and connected to source and life energy.

As you wake up to this power from within, you will see miracles happen in real life, and you will feel that events in your life are leading towards your highest possible good always. See yourself as a being of pure light and energy. See yourself as someone who is making their dreams a reality. Don’t compare yourself to others, don’t fuss or worry about what other people are doing, be the remarkable you. You are fully capable of being what you desire. See yourself as the unlimited being that you are, truly ready and fully capable of being that awesome person you know yourself to be.

I will end this blog post with an excerpt from a truly empowering speech that was spoken by Nelson Mandela, in regards to individual power.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
-Nelson Mandela

  2. Great post Baker. When you ask people for opinion, honestly I think the person comes from an area of uncertainty. I like how you say that better questions equals better answers. Take the following two questions for an example. Do you think I can manage a business? What can I do to further improve my business? The first question shows that the person is uncertain about their own potentials. The second question shows that person is confident with their own potential, but they just want to learn more about how to improve themselves. We all have more potential to create greatness than we think. We just have to dig deep within ourselves. Thanks for this post man, and I actually like this website design change better than the previous one. Keep up the good work! :)

    Hi Baker,

Great points. It’s important to be conscious of whose ‘should’ we base our decision making on and to trust ourselves. When we go within and diminish outside opinions, we gain clarity on what is most fitting for our situation.

No matter what look you settle on, your posts will keep ‘em coming ;)

  6. I’m glad i came here. I was going to quit college. Well i was on the path of deciding to quit. without really solid reasons. Probably cause i got tired and gave up a little bit. That’s the 3rd time this week i read that quote too.

Maybe it’s a sign telling me to just keep moving. It would add to my life. or maybe this is what i’m supposed to do. .
Anyways, thanks for writing it out.

  7. Baker: What a great and amazing post. I thought what you shared was so powerful and insightful. So often we are looking to the outside for clear answers. The reality really is as you stated and the answers are within us. We can look to the outside for pointers in the right direction, but after we have been pointed in the right direction, we have to ask ourselves our own questions and find our own truth. Thanks for these words Baker. I really appreciate them.

P.S. I like the new design and still really think that signature is so cool.

    Hi Shanaz my friend,
Yes, this is content I am living in real time. So the words connect with you at that level, by all means… But thank you for your kind words. I appreciate the feedback.

    Thanks Hulbert!
That is actually a very good point, epecially with the tone and where the answer can lead to both those questions you present here. I can definetly see where the second question “What can I do to further improve my business?” Is coming from a more confident place already, because of the key word, “further improve” implying that he has things going on already in his business that he is assured of and wants to know the next step. Great example!

    Hey Dia,
Yes that ability to truly listen to our inner guidance and shut off the other static noise is a great way to trully get intune with that inner power we all have within.

  12. Baker says:

    Hey Kim!
Yes, I have found that really just trusting that inner guidance is the key to truly make big changes in our own lives in a very positive way, that sometimes we even ourselves become in awe of. :)

  13. Baker says:

I am glad you came here as well! It is really funny, because after I posted this, I ran across the Nelson Mandela quote again, feeling almost by accident. It really is a strong message. I would suggest finish college if you have the chance to do so! Best of luck!!!

  14. Baker says:

    Hi Sibyl,
Thanks. I actually really like the wider look as well. But yes, looking for answers inside is so valuable for each and every person. Sometimes it gets easy to miss out on how amazing that process truly becomes.

  15. Evelyn Lim says:

We tend to doubt our own power and find it easier to believe in others than ourselves. As you’ve clearly shown, a why question is more empowering.

You have quoted one of my favorite sayings. I was a little baffled when I read it though. I thought it was written by Marianne Williamson. I did a search on the internet. On one site, it said that it was an urban legend that Nelson Mandala wrote it?? Puzzling!

    Hello Evelyn
Thank you for your feedback. Yes, empowerment comes when we begin to trust our own wisdom and follow our heart. Regardless of who wrote that piece it is beautiful and powerful. I am not here to debate over who wrote it, because at the end of the day, if a message resonates very well for the person that reads it does it really matter where it came from ?

Hi I am so happy that I have found your blog. I`m similar age as you (25)and also interested in the law of attraction (which I studied for about 5 years so far, mostly from books by Dr Joseph Murphy and Thomas Troward). I have still some questions about the subject to which I hope to find answers in your blog. I have a metaphysical question in a form of a Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7O0gRlt-zk , I`d be happy if you could help me on that :)

    Best wishes,
