How To Keep It “Real” When Others Aren’t: Clear Communication in 3 Direct Steps
This post will show you how to remain honest around a room filled with people that are just putting on a “show.” These techniques work very well for me, and can work wonders for you as well. Although a lot of my writing tends to be more inspirational, I consider myself a very direct and straightforward individual as well.
Being direct, regardless of whatever else is going on the outside, clears up the communication and allows for a smoother flow to your personal relationships. The three direct steps I share below has helped me tremendously in my own life.
The Direct Way To Keep it Real When Others Aren’t Keeping it real, is now here in a very direct easy to follow 3 step process for you to use to your benefit.
Step 1
Conviction.
In order to keep things real and honest, you must start to develop your own conviction on certain topics. The more conviction you have, the more facts you can use to back up your claim. People with conviction are respected for their truthful opinion. Conviction with your ideas and thoughts is a very strong way for you to start developing that confidence around people that aren’t keeping it real. This isn’t necessarily about being “mean” It’s just that you know where you stand on certain issues and people respect that, and will want to model their own convictions as well.
Step 2
Listen.
It is important to always be listening to other people, and remaining objective. The important thing is to learn how to listen with the intention of hearing what the other person is saying with clarity. When you get the true essence of what the other person is saying with regularity, you can then speak with your conviction from that point on.
Step 3
Tell it like it is.
People want to know the truth about what you really think. Your ability to tell it like it is in any situation is important to the authenticity of your statements. Don’t give people what they want to hear, but what the need to hear. Be bold and confident in your style without being rude or overly biased. This will gain you respect and clarity between you and everyone you encounter.
