14 Things I Learned At 27.
“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
-Mark Twain
Today I turn 27. I realize that there is so much more for me to learn in this lifetime, but I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve learned a lot thus far on my own personal growth journey thus far. This is a condensed list of the top 14 things I’ve learned thus far at age 27.
1. Toot Your Own Horn: When you achieve something you feel proud about it is perfectly fine to toot your own horn. I used to be so shy about stuff I accomplished, but now I am a lot more secure with doing a good job at something and claiming that. It feels good to do so. Try it. But, don’t overdo it. Everything has it’s own limits, and remember you are human.
2. Treat People The Way You Want To Be Treated. This goes without saying. It goes back to the golden rule: “Due onto others, that you want them to do unto you.” I realize this may be a very basic life lesson, however a good reminder of just treating everyone you ever encounter with the same respect, and joy that you too would like to receive is essential to a joyful life.
3. The Law of Attraction is Real: I’ve written time and again about the law of attraction and how it can positively change a person’s life. I use the law of attraction in real life, and I see it more now as a healthy way of life, that truly works. Simply stated. Law of attraction means that like energy attracts like energy. For more information on the law of attraction, check out this awesome video I did about the law of attraction.
4. Do What You Love: Currently I am unemployed and not searching for a regular “Job.” I am a living breathing example of someone who is choosing to do what he loves. I believe wholeheartedly in the idea of following one’s passion for a happier and healthier life. I choose to follow my joy and do what I love and I continue to do very well. My very own personality also doesn’t match well with having a boss. Live with inspiration, and do what you love. Life is too short to be doing otherwise.
5. Don’t Follow The Crowd. There is a good chance if you follow the crowd, life begins to feel very mediocre and stagnant. I am a living example of someone who doesn’t follow the crowd, from my ideas, and choices in life. Sometimes, I get a lot of heat for not doing what everyone else is doing. But, I know that staying true to me is always the best bet in the long run. I succeed with this continually. If the crowd is going in a certain direction, go the opposite there is a brighter light at the end of that tunnel.
6. Patience: When things don’t go my way, one of the things I’ve learned is patience. There is always another day. Everything happens when it is supposed to, on it’s own time. Timing is key to a lot of things in life. Be patient with yourself and the process of life. All is well. Patience is a virtue.
7. Believe in Yourself: The number one reason that people don’t reach the greatest heights of their true potential, comes down to not believing in themselves. If a lot more people gave themselves more credit for the good they already have within them, this earth would be a lot more happier. Believe in yourself and in the direction of your life. This is the key to any worthwhile success. Don’t wait for some “Savior” to tell you, that you are “worthy.” Tell yourself that you are worthy, and believe that.
8. Flow With Life: There is a natural flow to life that is unmistakable. When you catch your own flow, life seems to become more of a breeze in the park. This flow is unique to you. Catch it and see for yourself the magnificent life you have when you are in the flow. There are times when you just got to trust the natural flow of life. You won’t know logically why you are doing something, but it just feels right. You see synchronistic events happen in your life and it’s like you are walking on cloud 9.
9. Rest Is Important: I may sound like a grandfather right now. But, I’ve really started to value rest more so now than before. I used to think I can run on 100 miles an hour all day, only to find out that, trying to get everything done in one day ended up in burnout. I learned to pace myself, my projects and had to “learn” sometimes the hard way on how to rest more and take my time, to be healthier and enjoy life more.
10. Failure is Essential: Make mistakes. A lot of them. This is the key to true success. The more mistakes you can make and learn from them the better. It is not always easy to accept failure, but I once heard that “There is not such thing as failure, only feedback.” In the real world you have to fail time and again to see what needs improvement in order to grow as a person. There is no such thing as a success story, without a lot of “failure.”
11. Don’t take life too seriously. I sometimes laugh at myself when I am taking things too seriously. It is always good to laugh at oneself when things get too serious and hardcore. Watch a funny movie, laugh at yourself. Life is too short to think so serious 247. Even though I have a serious look to my physical features, people that really know me, have seen my more light, and humors side as well. Release and let go sometimes.
Remember to Breathe! =)
12. Be Yourself: Be yourself at all cost. There are times when it is hard to be yourself, when you are around people you don’t really like. I get that, I’ve been there. But, be yourself, enjoy the process of life. The degree to which you can be in-tune truly with yourself is in direct proportion to your overall health and happiness in life.
13. Create: Creating is very important. You will find that by creating more and competing less you actually feel a lot more in tune with the universe. The reason is because the universe is always creating. Therefore if you are always creating, you are also one with the universe. When you step out of competition mode, and into creation mode a whole new world opens up. The universe supports those that create from their heart space. Creating from the heart space opens up doors and windows of opportunity that will put you in awe. Create.
14. Read My Blog: My blog is the best blog out there right now. I read my own blog and I am astounded and in awe of the content I write here. The truth is, I don’t really write these blogs. Some greater spirit takes over me and flows to my fingertips onto this page. I can’t take the credit. There’s something bigger than me at work here. Regardless of anything else, I’ve learned that the content I put out is very amazing, and it continues to be, only really because I practice the following 13 steps above as I described. =)
Read this blog, and share it with others. Sharing this blog with others helps me get the message out of this blog more if you all share it with people that too can benefit from the inspiration I share here. Thank you.

Hey, happy birthday for the other day.
Number 2 on your list resonates with me the most. I think it definitely needed to be said because many people do not practice it, which is such a shame. Don’t mean to be negative, but it only seems to be getting worse unfortunately.
Luckily there are many like-minded people such as us to slowly turn things around.
