Baker Explains Spirituality: Simplified
“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”
-Dalai Lama
I was once asked, “What is spirituality?”
I would say that spirituality to me is being ONE with spirit.
It is an awareness of my own spirit and awareness of what my spirit came here to do on earth.
I have found in my own personal experience that spirituality for me is just my connection with God, Source, Universe, Great Divine, or whatever name you want to call it. It simply is a knowing that there is something greater than my own physical body and mind that is at work in a divine way. Let’s read more about spirituality not being a religion.
Spirituality Beyond Religion
Spirituality goes beyond outer appearances and the human five senses to an intuitive perception of the causes behind outer conditions.
A person on a spiritual path may dramatically change and uplift their world by first transforming, gaining clarity, or improving on his or her own vision.
One of the main teachings of my blog and in spirituality in a general sense is to simply look within and find what you seek within yourself. Spirituality is a very personal inward journey, that ironically changes the outer world as a result of the inner changes made within the persons spirit and consciousness.
The external physical world is temporary, ephemeral, and in constant change; it is pure fact that your physical body will eventually die one day, sweeping all those worldly physical things away like a mere pile of dust. However, your inner spirit, your inner sense of being and SPIRIT on the other hand, is eternal, forever, timeless, and profound.
Spirituality Is Love
At the core of spirituality is love. Love for the spirit and love for others. It is love without judgement.
Spirituality isn’t really even defined in a word that can really be defined, it is just a way of life. It is a way of BEING. In my own personal experience, I have found that spirituality had enhanced the quality of my daily life tremendously.
Spirituality is simply being AWAKE and Conscious of your thoughts and actions and knowing that what you think and do unto others you has an effect on those people and the world at large.

I agree with you in what you said, that the physical world is temporal! I belive that our spirit is the true body, and it’s really our enternal being in what is covered under our fleshly body! As you said, it very true that it goes beyond our physical sense! Within the spirit, the spirit body consists of beauty, creation, creativity, and a engergy mangetic force that consists of power, which I think it’s inline with the the universe or God! Thanks for sharing baker!

Hey Tyler,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, the physical world is temporal. What you mentioned here about the spirit body consisting of beauty, creation, and creativity is very true. I like the saying, “You are not a human being having a spiritual experience, you are a spiritual being having a human experience.” Very magnificent pieces of info that we can use to truly enhance the quality of this human experience.
Great post Baker. I have in the plans to write a post on what spirituality means to me. Too many confuse spirituality with religion which is different to me.

Yes. I agree, I don’t consider spirituality as really a “religion” either.
