Baker’s Recipe: 5 Awesome Tips on Successful Online Branding
1. Sign up for professional social networking sites for better online branding.
You may have been one of the people who thought Facebook was going to go away or that LinkedIn was pointless. But guess what? They’re not going away anytime soon. And the truth is, employers are using these sites more and more to get a feel for how potential candidates could fit in with their organization. So go sign up for an account now! And don’t forget to completely fill in your profile or bio and include a picture. An account with minimal information or that looks fake isn’t going to convey professionalism.
The main social networking sites ones at the moment that I personally use are Facebook and Twitter. Follow me on those sites if you want your daily dose of positivity quotes.
If you are serious about developing and learning how to become successful with online branding, being active in social media sites like Twitter, and Facebook are a must.
2. Interact and collaborate with other professionals on social networking sites for best online branding.
It’s not enough to just sign up for these sites anymore. You need to use them to meet other professionals and continue growing as a professional. After all, networking is still one of the best ways to land a job. Using these online tools will allow you to grow your network with no geographical limitations.
Start to interact with professionals on social networking sites to become successful with online branding.
3. Create a personal website for online branding.
Make yourself easy to find by registering your own personal domain name, ideally firstnamelastname.com. Utilize your site to display your resume, portfolio items, case studies, accomplishments, recommendations and contact information. Include your website URL on your business cards, e-mail signature and other networking sites to connect with potential employers. To be successful with online branding you need a personal website.
I currently use godaddy as my host, and I also use wordpress.org to blog.
They both do the job.
But if you want the best hosting, I would suggest hostgator. At hostgator the support is a lot better, I’ve used them for my other sites and they offer very competitive prices that I’m sure you would appreciate.
Get started with hostgator today, to start on your blogging journey!
4. Identify what is unique about you through online branding.
What sets you apart from the other professionals in your field? What accomplishments do you have that others don’t? These affect your personal brand. In order to nail an interview, you need to have a good grasp on what sets you apart from your competition. To be successful with online branding you need to be unique.
In late 2007 to give myself some motivation at the start of my entrepreneurial journey I nicknamed myself Baker because “I make a lot of dough.” Thus, the domain name “baker the brand” dot com. or bakerthebrand.com My expertise is on the topic of spirituality, so writing about my expertise in “spirituality” is how I get my dough.
I have a lot of fun creatively expressing myself through words, and being an inspiration to many people. That is what is unique to me. Nobody else can do it like me. Identify what is unique about you.
5. Get blogging start your online branding.
Blogging is a great way to grow your network, sharpen your writing skills and show that you’re a dedicated and capable professional. Identify your interests, passions and expertise and how you can translate that into a unique blog concept. For successful online branding you need to blog. I mentioned earlier that I use wordpress. But, another site that people love to blog on is called tumblr, there is also blogger.
I don’t have a tumblr, I have a blogger account but I just use it to run tests on niche sites I experiment with.. it just depends on what blogging platform suits you best. A blog is a great way to develop and create your brand.
At the core of the brand you need a strong mission statement that is what some people call your “WHY.” Your reason why you are delivering the message or promoting what you promote. Is your brand something you are passionate about? Something you feel is your life’s purpose? Is it something that you always felt called to do? The answers to those questions will determine the foundation of your online branding.
The reason my brand keeps growing and getting stronger is because the foundation I built it on was on something I personally feel a strong connection to. I am a spiritual person and I have a passion for personal growth and personal development. My desire to uplift humanity to live their dreams from the inside-out is what keeps me inspired and at the end of the day I just really love what I do. So the people who really want to know how to build a successful personal brand online and be successful with online branding, I would highly encourage you to start a blog or continue to develop your blog for your online branding success.

I like this post a lot, I have tried my hand at most of the things here and if you search for my real name you do come across my site and the top of page 1 in google is all about me and all positive stuff. As I am working in SEO/PR its essential, one thing I wish I did though – I wish I had got my real twitter/facebook/other social media names when they were available and not had to “make do”. I was lucky enough to grab my fullname.com URL but having the web 2.0s on this too would have been amazing, if you are lucky enough to be able to get your name then go for it!
Yeah, there really are only a lucky few that get to grab their real last and first name for a domain! Thanks for commenting.
