This post will show you the benefits of thinking positive. Many people think they understand the benefits of thinking positive. When confronted with adversity they tell themselves all they need to do is ‘Think Positive’ and everything will fine. Soon, they’re right back in the middle of another negative situation and the cycle just keeps repeating. Before you can understand the benefits of thinking positive, you need to understand what ‘Thinking Positive’ means.
We all know someone who’s always involved in a sad situation. They can’t meet their bills so their car gets repossessed and the electric is shut off. Their marriage is falling apart, the rent’s overdue, they burned dinner last night, the ran out of hot water in the shower this morning, and on and on… Nothing good ever happens to this person and their life is constantly in some sort of turmoil. When you remind this person that if they’d only think positive their response is usually just a grunt or a moan. This person doesn’t understand the benefits of thinking positive.
You probably also know someone who’s the exact opposite. Even though they make less money they get their bills paid. And even though there’s no money left over, they’re happy all the time. They always have something positive to say and you never hear them moaning and groaning. Bad things happen to this person, too. Happy people run out of hot water and happy people get their cars repossessed all the time. The difference is, positive people don’t dwell on the negative. They know that when one door closes another one opens and they can’t wait to see what’s behind the next door. Successful people know that the benefits of thinking positive is a conscious decision the make.
Benefits of Thinking Positive: A Conscious Decision
Thinking positive is a way of life for these people. It’s not even a conscious decision. And the benefits are obvious. They’re happier, for one thing. They don’t have problems with stress or high blood pressure, their immune systems are more resistant, and they don’t suffer from depression. They have happier relationships and stronger friendships. They shine in the workplace because no matter how stressful the situation they’re able to see the possible positive outcomes and that makes them great problem solvers. Before you get to the benefits of thinking positive, you have to see that it is a conscious decision that needs to be made first. Is it easy? Nope. But, it the benefits of thinking positive are well worth it. Like a muscle that needs to get developed, thinking positive and making it a way of life, takes practice. As you practice and develop this habit, you will reap the benefits of thinking positive.
But as you pay more attention to the positive people and the negative people in your life, certain patterns will start to emerge. The negative people, no matter how hard they try, just keep attracting more negativity. Bad things just keep happening. And, if you look closely, the negative people you know are surrounded by more negative people. And that circle of negativity just continues to grow.
Benefits of Thinking Positive Look Around You
Now look at the positive people you know. Bad things happen to them, too, but they also attract positive things. Even though bad things happen to positive people, they’re still surrounded by more positive people, and the positive events in their life far outweigh the negative. Truly the one benefits that people are generally more healthy when they think positive. This good health translates into how they treat others and there overall feelings of a and happy lifestyle.
How can that be? If bad things happen to everyone, why isn’t everyone a Gloomy Gus?
Because those positive people understand that the biggest benefit of positive thinking is that it leaves you open to more positive energy. If you’re constantly dwelling on the negative – the negative in the people around you, the negative in your life and the negative in your SELF, then you’re blocking any positive energy that might be trying to find its way in.

During my own 10 mental challenge (see my website) I learnt many things about positive thinking and it has indeed many mis-understood benefits.
For me the 2 most important are;
1) Being resourceful at negative moments. Keeping thinking for solutions instead of problems, helps to overcome negativity. There are always solutions.
2) To be open for the joy in every moment – the sun shining, fresh air, gives you positive energy at any moment you want.
