How To Properly Use Positive Affirmations To Manifest Desires

Using positive affirmations to manifest your desires is a key element in The Law Of Attraction.  They help reinforce the positive energy you send out into the Universe and they also help reinforce the energy we all hold within.  However, it’s important that you know how to use these positive affirmations properly if you really want them to work.

I hear a lot of people that argue and say that positive affirmations do not work for them. They’ve tried it in the past, but it really just doesn’t work.

I then ask them, how long they have been practicing using positive affirmations and they say, they just tried it one day and the next day nothing happened. They get frustrated because what they were intending didn’t show up the very next day.

I tell them that one day of practice with working with positive affirmations, is actually not a long enough time for positive affirmations to really work, especially if you have never consciously practiced it before.

The metaphor that I use is like someone wanting to build more muscle so he decides to commit to going to the gym. If the person goes to the gym and hasn’t worked out with weights ever before in his entire life and one day decides to go to the gym lift a couple weights  and have his ideal body look the next day he will be disappointed in the results the next day, as he may not have the ideal body shape or muscle that he wanted.

However, if he begins to see that if he steadily and gradually begins to work his muscles by going to the gym consistently he will then gradually see the results he was after. Using positive affirmations is like training a muscle  in the brain. In order to actually see positive results manifest one must gradually work on it overtime, and then eventually will start to see positive results.

Positive affirmations are sometimes referred to as positive self-talk.  They’re statements that we make to ourselves to help us overcome difficult situations or to help us achieve a goal.  They also work to help us change our attitude, or even our lifestyle.  In fact, positive affirmations can be used to effect a change in any are of your life – your love life, your health, your career, or even your personality.

The best time to have these positive conversations with yourself is any time you have a block of time where you won’t be disturbed or distracted, so you can completely focus your attention.  Most people find the best time to be at night, just before bed.  It’s generally quiet at that time and you’re more relaxed, which makes it easier for your affirmations to work their way to your sub-conscious, where they’ll have the most effect.

It also helps to use visualization techniques while you’re repeating your affirmation.  These can be images that you visualize in your mind or you can strengthen your focus even more by using detailed vision boards.  Whichever way works best for you is fine so long as you’re focusing on specific, detailed, positive results, both with your visualizations and affirmations.

It also helps to write down your positive affirmations and have them near at hand wherever you are.  Put them on your desk at work, in the kitchen by the coffeemaker, on the bathroom mirror, or your dresser or nightstand.  The more you see these visual reminders the more positive energy you’ll be creating and the more intense your focus. As you move towards 2012, know that whatever your intention is for the new exciting year can be yours. Simply speak and write it positively into existence. Know that you deserve what you are intending for.

The best positive affirmations are detailed, and spoken in the present tense.  For example, “I’m going to get a new car” is too vague and undefined.  Better to say, “I have a new white Ford F-5000 pickup truck.”  It states exactly what type of car you want, which makes it easier for you to visualize.  And instead of putting your desire out there somewhere in the future, this statement implies that you already have your truck – it’s a positive statement.

Repeating your positive affirmations frequently throughout the day will also help penetrate your subconscious and  manifest your desires that much more quickly.   The universe is ready and waiting to give you everything you want as long as you know how to ask for it.

    Hey Baker.

A lot of people also approach positive affirmations and say them without belief or feeling. To make the most of affirmations you need to say it with feeling and not just recite.

    Hey Baker,

A lot of people also use affirmations without believing in them. They simply just recite the affirmations. When you say them you need to say them with belief and with passion.

    Hey Kian,
Yes. Saying them with belief and passion is what sets the energy in motion. Reciting the words don’t have much power…

  4. Hi Baker,

I found there is a whole science in effectively doing affirmations.
How to do them? When to do them? How many times to do them? How to construct them in an effective way? What can stop you?

There are many ways to do it. Some ways are great and some are poor. Some are useful and some plain time consuming without results. It is a very strict science.

I love your metaphor of mussel building.
