Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.”

- Martin Luther King Jr.

Peace of mind, it is something we all want  in  life.

How does one attain peace? As you read every word of this post you will see in a very simple manner how to have more peace of mind.  Included below are Baker’s 3 Simple Tips to Peace of mind.

1. Do Your Most Important Tasks At Start of The Day

I learned this technique from Leo at Zen Habits. Basically, you do the most important tasks at the start of your day. They may be daunting tasks, that you really don’t want to do at all. But, with enough discipline doing most important tasks at the start of the day, the rest of your day gives you that peace of mind, that you already completed the biggest tasks of the day. For me personally, this works out very well. When I get the most important tasks done at the start of each day, I get less distracted by the minor tasks that can come up during a day. When I get my Most Important tasks done at the start of each day, the rest of the day feels like a walk in the park.  If you haven’t already read Baker’s Time Management Technique.

2. Let go of things you don’t control

You make plans to go outside with friends. But at the last minute, it starts raining. What’s your reaction? Some people upset and angry, and find the nearest person and start complaining to them. “It’s not FAIR that it’s raining. This _always_ happens to me!…”That’s not going to accomplish anything – the rain won’t stop just because you throw a tantrum. The rain doesn’t care.  So make the best of the situation. What I do in such situation is go for a quick walk in the park (because rain has its own awesomeness), or just lie in bed reading a good, listening to the rain beating on my window.

Make the most of what you do control, and don’t worry about what you don’t.

3. Don’t Worry About What People Think of You

When I jokingly tell people that I call myself Baker because I make a lot of dough, they laugh with me. Then they wonder if I really do make a lot of dough $. After the quick joke, I don’t really care if other people think if I do or don’t. It’s just creative, unique, and differentiates my brand. I love it. You may be worried about what others think of you in a wide range of different circumstances at this time. But, ask yourself if that thought is even real, or are you just putting up unnecessary roadblocks for yourself? Even if that is what “they’re” thinking. You still have control over your own destiny by  giving yourself full permission. As long as you are courageously making your own mark on the world,  people are going to have their opinions about what you do  all day long. The secret ingredient to overcoming all of that static noise, is honoring your own opinion about yourself.  Peace of mind comes from knowing you are doing your best at any given moment. It is an internal feeling of fulfillment within yourself. So the simple tip  is don’t worry about what others are thinking of you – most likely they’re too busy wondering what others are thinking of them.

If you notice a common theme here in the 3 simple tips to having peace of mind  for yourself it is simply this:

Focus more energy on what you do control, and little to no time and energy on what you do not control.

Above I have given you Baker’s Recipe for 3 simple tips to having peace of mind. Which ones are your favorites? Which ones can you start applying within this week to attain more peace of mind for yourself?
